ok, one last sara song before i go to bed.

this is the song i was named after, so it holds a very, very special place in my heart. my mom said she listened to it on repeat while she was pregnant with me because she read somewhere that i would hear it. and when i was born, she knew i had because i smiled earlier than babies were supposed to, and that’s all anyone ever talked about.

i used to fantasize about falling in love with a man who would sing this to me and ask me to marry him.

but whenever my brother hears this song on the radio, he calls me. when my mom cooks breakfast, i hear her sing this song in the kitchen. everyone i know calls this song my song, and it reminds me that i occupy a space in their hearts, and that my own heart is filled with different kinds of love than i had imagined as a child. and it makes me smile.

Well of course Sara is named after a song by one of my favorite bands. Of course.
